The CHA Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) was established with
funding provided by the federal hospital preparedness grant
program. The program provided ongoing support to California
hospitals and health systems in all-hazards disaster
planning. Some of the primary CHA HPP accomplishments were:
establishing the annual disaster planning conference for
California hospitals; creating and maintaining this website;
developing a variety of planning tools and resources to assist
hospitals; developing training and conducting over 400 classes,
drills and exercises; providing technical assistance and support
to hospitals; providing hospital emergency management advocacy
and representation to state, federal and local agencies and other
activities.
Website
This website was developed by the CHA HPP as a repository of
emergency preparedness information, tools, and resources.
Training Classes
The CHA HPP developed and provided a variety of training
including but not limited to the following: Hospital
Incident Command System; Incident Action Planning; Exercise
Program for Hospitals; Planning and Training for Active Shooter
events and more.
The CHA HPP established the annual disaster planning conference
for California hospitals. The executive director coordinates this
program and chairs the planning committee. The conference is the
largest gathering of hospital emergency preparedness planners in
the state. Attendees include hospital personnel, community
partners, and state officials. Conference topics cover the full
spectrum of emergency response topics relevant to health care
facilities.
