Disasters occur in many forms — the only certainty is that they
will happen.
The Disaster Planning for California Hospitals annual conference
guides hospitals and health systems through the preparation of
these inevitable events, regardless of type. Planning ahead
translates to limited business disruption, personnel safety,
maintained data integrity, and establishes clear roles
and responsibilities during and after disasters.
CHA’s 10th annual Disaster Planning for California Hospitals,
held this week in Sacramento (see photo
gallery), enabled more than 750 attendees to affirm their
commitment to “Planning for today, tomorrow and beyond.” During
the three-day conference, hospital staff and state and county
health officials gathered to strengthen hospital disaster
preparedness and build collaboration to ensure continuity of
care.
A keynote presentation on the Taipei water park inferno, in which
more than 500 young adults were burned when a colored powder
accidently ignited at a concert in June, will close CHA’s
Disaster Planning for California Hospitals conference on
Wednesday, Sept. 30.
